About Me

steve zanella

Hello.

My name is Steve Zanella and I started Budadhism.com shortly after my third child, Camden, was born. This site is designed to share funny, interesting, thoughtful and inspirational quotes and ideas to help us all be better parents.

I was introduced to Buddhism a few years ago after struggling to deal with my life-long battle with anxiety and depression. After putting the teachings into practice, everything seemed to fall into place for me.

I wanted to learn more. I couldn’t understand how these teachings had been around for so long, yet I knew almost nothing about them.

I always thought Buddha was just some fat, happy guy with no shirt on. What I learned was the philosophies of Buddhism, Taoism, Confucianism and other similar teachings are much more grounded in everyday life than I ever knew.

I started sharing the things I was learning with friends and family. I found that when people understood the meaning behind some of the puzzling quotes, teachings and sayings it brought a new level of understanding to their life. They just needed a bit of help in learning how to apply what was taught thousands of years ago to life in the modern world. After all, Buddha never had to deal with being unfriended on Facebook and Confucius was never trolled on Twitter.

No place have these teachings had a larger impact on me than in my relationship with my kids. I have three beautiful children that have taught me more about myself than anyone or anything before. Lili is 8 years old, Noah is 6 years old and Camden is 2 months old. They are fun, silly, crazy, smart, loving, curious and they mean everything to me. They are the reason I am able to proudly call myself a dad!

My hope is that by sharing what I’ve learned with others, more dads can learn to become better parents, better husbands and partners, and better people.

And you don’t have to be a dad to enjoy the site… moms are always welcome to join in the conversation. This site is for everyone.

I hope you all enjoy it.
